PREZENTARE CARTE

The main objectives of the analysis are related to the identification of metaphors in the corpus made up of 100 NATO speeches, delivered between 2000-2020 by various officials or representatives of the organization, in most varied contexts, and to providing optimal equivalents in Romanian for the identified metaphors.

(Professor habil. Loredana Pungă, PhD, West University of Timișoara)

The novelty element of this interdisciplinary approach derives from the integrated analysis of the concepts of metaphor and translation, drawing on traditional and recent theories explaining the concepts of metaphor, translation, text typology and discourse analysis, as well as from the fit-for-purpose translation strategies applied to the vocative texts belonging to the military discourse.

(Professor Elena Croitoru, PhD, “Lower Danube” University of Galați)

Starting from the assumption that metaphorical language is cognitive and linguistic at the same time, the author successfully manages to identify specific patterns of linguistic structures that reproduce conceptual metaphors related to NATO’s vision and mission.

(Associate Professor Ana-Maria Trantescu, PhD, University of Craiova)
